Our use of collected data

Text marketing and notifications

By entering your telephone number at checkout and initiating a purchase, subscribing via our subscription form or a keyword, you agree that we may send you text message notifications (for your order, including abandoned cart reminders) and text message marketing offers. Text marketing messages will not exceed 10 per month. You acknowledge that consent is not a condition of any purchase. If you wish to opt out of receiving text marketing messages and notifications, reply STOP to any mobile message sent by us or use the unsubscribe link provided to you in one of our messages. You understand and agree that alternative methods of opting out, such as using alternative words or requests, will not be considered a reasonable means of opting out. Information about your connected Varin® product
(EU Data Act)

1. About this information

Your smart Varin® product collects data as soon as you connect it to the internet via the Tuya Smart app. Below you can read what data this is, where it is stored, how long it is retained and what your rights are. We provide this information pursuant to the EU Data Act (Regulation (EU) 2023/2854).

This information applies to all smart Varin products that work with the Tuya Smart app.

Can you also operate your product without the app, for example using the buttons on the device or the remote control? As long as it is not connected to the app, no data is sent to the cloud.

2. Who manages your data?

Tuya GmbH is the data controller. You create your account in Tuya's Tuya Smart app, and your device data is processed and stored via Tuya's platform.

What Varin receives: Varin does not receive any personal data from you via the Tuya Smart app, such as your name, email address or telephone number. Via the Tuya platform, Varin can only view aggregated statistics, such as the number of activated devices per country, and information about software versions. This data is used only to improve our products. If you contact us, for example regarding a warranty claim or questions via info@varin.nl, we will use your data only to assist you. Read more about this in our privacy statement.

3. What data is collected?

Your device generates data only when something happens: when the status changes, or when you or an automation adjusts a setting. The device then sends that data directly (in real time) to the cloud.

Format and volume: the data are collected in JSON format and can be exported as an Excel file (XLS). For each device, this amounts to approximately 0.01 to 5 MB per day, depending on how often you use and adjust the device.

4. Where and for how long is your data stored?

Your data are stored on Tuya servers in the European Union (Germany).

What are the data used for? Tuya uses the data only to provide the service, for security purposes, and to resolve malfunctions. Tuya shares the data only with service providers that process it on Tuya's behalf, and does not use it for its own, other purposes.

5. What are your rights?

Accessing and downloading. You can always access and export your device data free of charge via the app:

1.       Open the Tuya Smart app and go to Profile.

2.       Tap Settings in the top right.

3.       Choose Privacy Policy Management.

4.       Choose Export Personal Information for account information or Export Personal Device & Service Data for your device data.

5.       Enter your email address and tap Next. You will receive the data by email.

 

Deletion.

•         Data in the cloud: delete your Tuya account in the app or remove the device from the app (Remove and Clear Data).

•         Data on the device: reset the device to factory settings by reactivating pairing mode (see the manual).

•         Data on your phone: delete the app.

 

Sharing with a party of your choice. You may share your data with a third party of your choice.

•         One-time: export your data (see above) and provide the file yourself.

•         Ongoing: at your request, the third party creates a connection via the Tuya platform. You can withdraw this consent at any time via Profile → Settings → Account and Security → Third-Party Management.

Submitting a complaint. If you disagree with how your data is handled, first contact Tuya or Varin (see section 2). If you have shared data with a third party, contact that party. You may also submit a complaint to the competent supervisory authority.

6. Other information

Voice assistants and other platforms. If you connect your device to, for example, Amazon Alexa or Google Home, data about your device will also be shared with that service. You can read how Amazon and Google handle that data in their own privacy policies. You can always disconnect the link in the voice assistant's app or in the Tuya Smart app.

Trade secrets. Some data may contain Tuya's trade secrets. If so, Tuya will inform you; your right of access will in principle remain, potentially subject to additional confidentiality arrangements.

Term. These arrangements apply for as long as your Tuya account exists. You may delete your account at any time; this will terminate the service.
